It is my honor and privilege to once again address you regarding the state of the Moro Moro Scholarship Fund. Indeed, the good work continues. Six Moro Moro scholars are studying and moving toward degrees and toward gainful employment. So far, five have graduated and two more will graduate in 2013. This is made possible with your financial support. Thank you!

"Every time I come down here to Bolivia to visit these kids, I get so inspired. New faces, new dreams, and hearing how the other kids who have graduated are doing! I [was] in Bolivia just for a couple of days...I took a couple of hours to go talk to the students, walk with them on the university campus, and encourage them to keep studying. It was just awesome to hang out with them and see Daniel's dream fully alive. They are good kids and eager to learn."

Give a Student a Chance

Each year, the fund supports the best student from the high school in Moro Moro, Bolivia, who demonstrates financial need. The residents of Moro Moro and the surrounding communities are mostly subsistence farmers. The students have almost no chance of a higher education without this scholarship.

Rural to Urban

The scholarship recipients study at the Universidad de Gabriel Rene Moreno in Santa Cruz, about a 10-hour bus ride from Moro Moro. We are incredibly fortunate to have Ms. Fatima Lit helping support the students as they transition from rural Moro Moro to urban life in Santa Cruz. Prior to coming to Santa Cruz, some students may not have lived in anything other than a one-room dwelling and may not have had running water.

I Call That a Bargain!

At 1,730 US dollars per student per year, your gift bears incredible returns compared to the $10,000-plus-cost of a comparable education in the United States.

Dare to Dream

Over ten years, my father, Daniel Valverde, and a few friends gathered and dreamed of a way to give the hardest-working students in Moro Moro a chance to go to college. Now that dream is a reality, and with your support, it will continue. On behalf of the students and the MMSF board, I sincerely thank you for your past support and ask that you continue to support this good work.

Love, Peace, Blessings and Shalom,

Doug Valverde & the Moro Moro Scholarship Board
