The Moro Moro Scholarship Fund assists the most deserving secondary school graduates from the mountain village of Moro Moro, Bolivia, with tuition, materials, room, and board for post-secondary education at the state university in the city of Santa Cruz. The purpose of The Moro Moro Scholarship Fund is to end the painful cycle of poverty in Moro Moro. Like many young people in the villages of rural Bolivia, the gifted individuals selected as Moro Moro Scholars have extremely limited resources. Without scholarship funds their chances for higher education would be remote. The Fund offers them the chance to work and study hard, to learn a profession, to earn a living with dignity, to contribute back to the welfare of their community, and to help others to do the same.

Find out how you can help!

The town of Moro Moro, Bolivia

Report from the Director of the Moro Moro School District

Moro Moro, Bolivia
November 5, 2003

Dear Daniel Valverde Reyes,

With this letter I send you my most sincere greetings. In answer to your request for my evaluation of the Moro Moro Scholarship that you provide, I can tell you with the authority and experience I have as educational director and overseer of the larger Moro Moro school district, that these scholarships are of great importance to the town and especially to those who have no economic resources for higher education.

It is rare to find persons who give support to those who need it without expectation for some return. I want you to know that since they have learned about the availability of the scholarships, all students keep hoping to be the beneficiary of this important help. The scholarships are incentives for students to reapply themselves with extra effort. They know that only the top performer wins the scholarship each year.

The people of Moro Moro are aware of these scholarships and are very happy for this important assistance. I am sorry if we ask too much, but we would like if it were possible to give two scholarship instead of one each year.

Greetings and thanks to you and to all those who share this work with you where you are, far from your native land.

Prof. Ventura Aguilar
District Director
Moro Moro School District
